(Phoenix, Az.) The Boys Hope Girls Hope Success Starts with Hope Breakfast on May 8, 2018 raised more than $400,000 for BHGH programs. Chaired by Julie Hancock and Alicia Harrison, there were 670 guests present including 50 BHGH scholars. Highlights of the hour-long program included an inspiring speech from Herm Edwards, ASU Head Football Coach, with advice about life and learning delivered directly to BHGH scholars; an insightful testimony from BHGH Alumni Scholar Jenifer who graduated this year from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in film; and the “great reveal” of college choices by the BHGH graduating high school class – always a favorite presentation for supporters. All 11 high school seniors are first-generation college goers. Together, they earned over $1,057,000 in combined grants and scholarships and are attending Grand Canyon University, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Barrett the Honors College at ASU, Smith College (one of the Seven Sisters colleges) in Massachusetts, and Pontifical College Josephinum which is the seminary for the Diocese of Phoenix. Two scholars are also Dorrance Scholars. BHGH honored one of their founding board members and long time supporter, F. Michael Geddes, who gave an inspiring speech about his passion for education and investing in young people. The event achieved a record-breaking level of success thanks to generous individual donors, the Presenting Sponsor, Healthcare Trust of America, and lead sponsors Camelot Homes, Jaburg Wilk, Geddes and Company, Coe and Van Loo, Tracy and John Eddy, M3Companies and Nathan and Associates.
